MADE FOR A PURPOSE – 4: Draw Out Now!

“And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.” (Joh 2:8)

What a miracle! Draw out now and bear to the governor of the feast. Once I am filled to the brim the next command over my life is to draw out. Draw out NOW! I wonder what was responsible for this urgency from my Master. As if there should be no lapse of time between when I am filled to the brim and when to draw out from me… Lord, your thoughts are truly not our thoughts and your ways are truly not our ways. I would have loved for your life poured into me to the brim to stay a while before it begins to be drawn out. But you said, “Draw Out Now!” as if you are afraid of my becoming stale. You are so concern about my life so much that you would not allow it to flaunt any of your principle of life. To you all that are full are to be set aside, this is the reason why your command is: “Draw Out Now!” It is only as they draw out from me that I can have space to be refilled, else I will become full and meet only to be set aside. “Draw Out Now!” is your secret biding for my continuous flow, refilling and freshness.

MADE FOR A PURPOSE – 3: Filled To the Brim

“Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.” (John 2:7 KJV)

This is the third thing that made these water jars useful. Fill the waterpots with water was your command to the servants. The water pots were filled to the brim. For me to be a blessing to my generation, I must be filled to the brim.

To empty and be emptied is but a means to an end. If I am emptied and I’m not quickly filled to the brim, then I would only have set myself for the worst case in life.

“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” (Mat 12:43-45 NKJV)

MADE FOR A PURPOSE – 2: Empty… and Emptied…

“And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.” (Joh 2:6-7 KJV)

The water jars were empty. This is why the Lord commanded that they be filled with water. It is only the empty and emptied vessel that can be filled. A full man cannot be filled. A man full of himself, of his own knowledge and of ambition for this world cannot be filled. A man full of bitterness and anger cannot be filled. The condition that made these jars useful was their emptiness. They became empty.

“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.” (2Ki 4:1-6 KJV)

MADE FOR A PURPOSE – 1: Are You Standing?

“And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.” (John 2:1-10 KJV)

I see the Holy Spirit pointing to several issues from this portion from the word of life. The first, being that of the standing of the water pots, vis-à-vis my standing.

“And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.” Verse 6
